Questions

Everything you need to know about the Open Charge Network ™ platform, integration process, and OCPI standards.

General
The old way of EV roaming involves signing dozens of contracts and maintaining dozens of API integrations. This creates an integration nightmare with N x N contracts, inconsistent data formats, and multiple invoices and disputes. It doesn't scale.
General
Open Charge Network provides a unified hub-and-spoke model with one contract, standardized OCPI 2.2.1 protocol, and automated clearing. This replaces dozens of bilateral agreements with a single API integration.
General
Open Charge Network ™ is the premier middleware solution for EV roaming. We connect Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and e-Mobility Service Providers (eMSPs) via the OCPI protocol, automating the exchange of location data, tariffs, and sessions.
Integration
Contact our sales team to schedule a demo and discuss your specific requirements. We offer a guided onboarding process to ensure seamless connectivity with your existing backend systems.
Integration
Most integrations are completed within 2-4 weeks. This includes credential exchange, testing in our sandbox environment, and validation of all OCPI modules. The timeline depends on your backend readiness and the complexity of your existing infrastructure. Our integration team provides hands-on support throughout the entire process to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.
Integration
Absolutely. All partners receive access to our fully-featured sandbox environment that mirrors production. You can test locations, sessions, tokens, and CDRs without affecting live operations. The sandbox includes simulated CPO and eMSP endpoints, allowing you to validate your integration before going live. Visit our developer page for access credentials and documentation.
Integration
Once you're integrated with Open Charge Network, connecting with new roaming partners is instant. There's no need for bilateral agreements or additional technical integrations. When a new CPO or eMSP joins the network, they immediately become available to all existing partners. This hub-and-spoke model eliminates the weeks or months typically required for traditional point-to-point integrations.
Technical
We fully support OCPI 2.2.1, the industry standard. We also maintain backward compatibility with OCPI 2.1.1 and are actively developing support for OCPI 3.0 to keep you ahead of the curve.
Technical
For Charge Point Operators (CPOs), OCPP 2.0.1 delivers flexibility and operational efficiency. As an open standard, it ensures interoperability across thousands of charger models, letting operators freely select hardware without vendor lock-in. The updated protocol provides richer device visibility, better error reporting, and secure two-way communications to make it easier to monitor, configure, and maintain chargers. With advanced features like smart charging, ISO 15118 support, and vehicle-to-grid readiness, OCPP 2.0.1 helps CPOs reduce downtime, optimize energy use, and deliver a superior driver experience.
Technical
We support OCPI 2.2.1 standard token-based authentication using CREDENTIALS tokens. During the initial handshake, parties exchange tokens that are used for all subsequent API calls. All communications are secured with TLS 1.3 encryption, and tokens can be rotated on-demand for enhanced security. We also support IP whitelisting for additional access control.
Technical
CDRs follow the OCPI 2.2.1 standard format and include comprehensive session details: start/stop timestamps, energy delivered (kWh), session duration, authentication method, tariff applied, and final cost breakdown. Each CDR contains the party IDs for both CPO and eMSP, location details, and connector information. CDRs are validated in real-time and can be retrieved via API or webhook notifications.
Technical
Absolutely. Our platform supports highly flexible tariff configurations including time-based pricing, energy-based pricing, flat fees, parking fees, and reservation fees. You can create complex multi-dimensional tariffs with different rates for peak/off-peak hours, connector types, or customer segments. Tariff updates propagate instantly across the network. Our tariff engine is fully compliant with OCPI 2.2.1 specifications while offering additional customization options for advanced use cases.
Security
We use standard OCPI token-based authentication (CRED tokens). Open Charge Network ™ handles the secure exchange and rotation of these tokens automatically. All traffic is encrypted via TLS 1.2+.
Billing
Open Charge Network ™ processes Charge Detail Records (CDRs) in real-time. We validate these against the active tariffs to ensure accuracy. While we facilitate the data exchange for billing, the actual financial settlement usually happens directly between parties or via a clearing house partner we integrate with.
Billing
We offer flexible pricing based on transaction volume and features required. Our standard plan includes a monthly platform fee plus a small per-session fee. Enterprise customers benefit from volume discounts, dedicated support, and custom SLAs. There are no hidden fees for data transfer or API calls. Contact our sales team for a customized quote based on your projected roaming volume and specific requirements.
Billing
Standard contracts are month-to-month with no long-term lock-in, allowing you to scale as your network grows. Enterprise plans typically involve annual commitments with volume-based pricing and additional benefits like dedicated account management and priority feature development. We believe in earning your business through excellent service, not contractual obligations.
Billing
We facilitate automated clearing and settlement between roaming partners. CDRs are validated in real-time and aggregated monthly. Partners receive detailed settlement reports showing all transactions, fees, and net amounts. Payment is processed via bank transfer within 15 days of month-end. We support multiple clearing models: net settlement, gross settlement, or integration with third-party clearing houses depending on your preference.
Billing
We support all major global currencies including USD, EUR, CAD, GBP, and BRL. Currency conversion is handled automatically using daily exchange rates from trusted financial data providers. Tariffs can be configured in any supported currency, and CDRs reflect the original transaction currency along with converted amounts when applicable. Multi-currency support ensures accurate billing regardless of where charging sessions occur.
Billing
Our platform includes a built-in dispute resolution system. All CDRs are logged with complete audit trails including timestamps, authentication records, and tariff calculations. When disputes arise, both parties can access detailed transaction data through the dashboard. Our support team mediates disputes and provides evidence-based resolution recommendations. Most disputes are resolved within 5-7 business days with full transparency.
